Steve Hollis has been trying to make a living as a street performer for most of his life.

He currently works as a clown, making balloon animals for tips at weekend street fairs and farmers markets. But for a lot of years he made money playing music on the street. In the 1970s he moved from his native Boston to San Francisco, where one night he got the best tip of his life.
